According to the reports from Cafe Danesh, this incident took place in Zibadasht, Moshaiee Abad. Daryush Mehrjui’s daughter reported this incident to the police. There are circulating reports on social media regarding the decapitation, but these reports are not accurate. Brigadier General Hamid Haddavand, the commander of the Alborz Province Law Enforcement, has stated, “Evidence indicates that this murder occurred due to cold weapon injuries to the neck and other parts of the body.”

Dariush Mehrjui, born in 1318 (1939), was one of the prominent directors of the Iranian New Wave cinema. He brought several famous and notable films to the screen, including “Hamoon,” “The Circle,” “The Cow,” “The Tenants,” “Sara,” “Pari,” “Leila,” “Mom’s Guest,” and “Santouri.”

His latest film was titled “Laminar,” which was made in 98 (2019).

Regarding the details of Dariush Mehrjui and his wife’s murder, Brigadier General Hamid Haddavand, the commander of Alborz Province Law Enforcement, announced that this incident was reported through a call to the police emergency center (110) in the late hours of Saturday night, and police officers were present at the scene, where they discovered that Dariush Mehrjui and his wife had been murdered in their private villa in Zibadasht, Moshaiee Abad.

Brigadier General Haddavand stated that this incident was reported to the police by the late Mehrjui’s daughter, and specialized police teams were present at the scene and initiated their investigation.

Regarding the claims of Mehrjui’s decapitation, Brigadier General Haddavand said, “This incident occurred due to unknown reasons by an unidentified individual or individuals, and the motive for the murder is not yet clear. The evidence indicates that this murder occurred due to injuries caused by cold weapon strikes to the neck and other parts of the body.”

The commander of Alborz Province Law Enforcement stated that the details of this case are being pursued by the specialized police team.

The motive for Dariush Mehrjui’s murder has not been announced by the Alborz Province police thus far.
